The Young Apprenticeship—YA
The Young Apprenticeship is suitable for young people desiring a career in hairdressing. The course will provide the foundation knowledge of hairdressing. The student will be required to demonstrate that they have the knowledge to perform salon duties in all areas required of a modern hairdresser.
These are:-
- Promoting a positive impression of yourself and the company
- Cutting hair using basic techniques
- Analyze hair & scalp conditions
- Shampooing & conditioning
- Blow-drying & styling hair
- Consulting with clients
- Health & Safety
- Perming hair
- Reception
- Working with others
- Improving own learning
On completion of the course the student will have acquired the necessary knowledge to obtain a position in a commercial environment. This qualification enables the learner to fast track through the Modern Apprenticeship when they join a salon once they leave school.
The Young Apprenticeship is awarded by City & Guilds.
The course requires attendance of two days per week for 96 weeks, comprising of a minimum of 576 tuition hours. 50 days of salon experience with employers.This includes both academy days and trade days working alongside teams in high street salons.
