JUST LEFT SCHOOL?

If you have just left school and recently received your GCSE results and are unsure what to do now we maybe able to help you.

If you have the drive we have the support to help you into a career within the hairdressing industry. There are lots of different job roles within the hairdressing world, you can work in salon, travel, work on TV, help on stage in the west end, do photography work to name a few, but to get you started on this journey we are offering you a Traineeship programme.

  • What is a Traineeship? – Traineeships are an opportunity to gain real work experience, job skills and improve your English and Maths, if needed.
  • What are the benefits of a Traineeship? – Traineeships have been developed in response to research showing that young people frequently lack the knowledge and experience employers expect in the workplace. TRANEESHIPS will help to tackle this problem.
  • Is a Traineeship right for me? – Traineeships are ideal if you are motivated to get a job but lack the skills and experience that employers are looking for.

If you have been unsuccessful when applying for an apprenticeship or other job due to lack of skills and experience, then you are likely to be a good candidate for a Traineeship.

  • You could be suitable if you are:
    • Unemployed, or work fewer than 16 hours per week and have little work experience.
    • Aged between 16 – 24 and are qualified below Level 3.
    • Motivated to work.
  • What will I achieve?
    • Employability skills.
    • CV writing skills.
    • English & Maths.
  • How long does the Traineeship last for?
    • The course runs for 12 weeks.
    • 1 day training at The Hair Academy.
    • 1 – 2 days’ salon work experience
  • What happens when I complete the Traineeship? – At the end of your work experience you will get a formal interview with the company if a position is available or an exit interview, together with meaningful written feedback. This will help you secure an apprenticeship or other employment if unsuccessful with your salon placement.

If a Traineeship is not for you we can help you find an apprenticeship placement and we currently have local salons waiting to take apprentices on so please get in touch for more information.

We look forward to welcoming you to the academy.
